Wildflower Chronology in Burnet County
In the Highland Lakes of Burnet County, bluebonnets are the first wildflowers to signal the arrival of spring soon joined by a colorful variety of Texas wildflowers. The many types of wildflowers do not all bloom at once, there is a natural order, a chronology of wildflowers, that has been observed in the area over the years.
While wildflower blooms typically begin late February to March, April and May are considered peak months as these are the months with the largest variety of wildflowers blooming at one time. Just as the region has early arrivals before spring, later bloomers keep the party going through the end of summer and into early fall.
