March into a new season in Burnet County

Welcome to March in Burnet County, where winter waves goodbye, spring prepares its entrance, and those long-awaited wildflowers burst into bloom. This month, cast your eyes skyward at a collection of vintage planes at the Bluebonnet Airshow, send the kiddos to a Spring Break day camp on Lake Marble Falls, polish your green thumb at the Hill Country Lawn and Garden Show, or bend your ears to live music at several Burnet County venues. March temperatures range from 50-70 degrees, so get out and experience The Highland Lakes of Burnet County.

ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL AT THE GLOBE 

8 p.m. Saturday, March 4  

The Globe Theatre, 132 W. Vaughn St. in Bertram

If you like Western swing, the historic Globe Theater in Bertram is the place to be when Ray Benson and Asleep at the Wheel come to town to pick, sing, and entertain. Come early and explore this charming little city before showtime.

RIDERS IN THE SKY AT THE GLOBE

8 p.m. Thursday, March 9 

The Globe Theatre, 132 W. Vaughn St. in Bertram

The Grammy Award-winning Riders in the Sky bring their cowboy harmonies and high-pitched yodeling to The Globe for a weeknight of traditional Western music. Take time to admire this lovingly restored theater that barely dodged the demolition bullet.

MARBLE FALLS SPRING BREAK DAY CAMP 

7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, March 13-17

Lakeside Pavilion, 307 Buena Vista Drive in Marble Falls

Kids ages 5-12 can enjoy a fun-filled adventure with field trips, sports, crafts, and visits from first responders. Youngsters get two snacks a day and a souvenir T-shirt. Hosted by the Marble Falls Parks and Recreation Department.

BLUEBONNET AIRSHOW

9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, March 18

Burnet Municipal Airport, 2302 S. Water St. in Burnet

World War II-era planes fill the skies at one of Burnet County’s premier events. Look for B-25s, P-51s, C-47s, and other vintage aircraft as they take to the air. The Highland Lakes Squadron of the Commemorative Air Force will display its recently acquired C-47, the Texas Zephyr.

HILL COUNTRY LAWN & GARDEN SHOW 

10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, March 25

AgriLife Extension Auditorium, 607 N. Vanderveer in Burnet 

Green thumb or not, there’s plenty to see and experience at this free event with food, artisan, and plant vendors; gardening demonstrations; and a kids’ booth. Hosted by the Highland Lakes Master Gardener Association.
