Heart of Texas Lake Resort on Lake LBJ

Heart of Texas Lake Resort is a favorite Highland Lakes escape and the perfect venue for your next Lake LBJ getaway. The resort is tucked away on 8 acres of lakefront property on the north end of LBJ, offering a wide range of amenities and accommodations. Whether you are planning a full-on family reunion or a quick romantic retreat, Heart of Texas has it covered.

“When you get on the water, you just feel the vacation, no worries, just calm and peaceful,” said Rachel Corcorran, part owner of the resort. “You have a different vibe than when you’re on your day-to-day grind.”

Corcorran has been in the hospitality industry for over a decade and saw something special in Heart of Texas when she visited with her own family. This particular location on Lake LBJ is far from the hustle and bustle of the south end of the lake. Massive pecan trees and oaks shade the property and small alcoves allow for privacy, even in an open space. The lake is very narrow this far north and feels more like a gentle river.

For accommodations, the resort has a lot to choose from. At the heart of Heart of Texas is an enormous event center, kitted out with five bedrooms, each with its own outdoor access. The large communal space can hold up to 75 guests, perfect for a company retreat or a family reunion. According to Corcorran, families have been coming to the resort since the 1960s to celebrate their annual reunions. The full kitchen and fireplace give the event center a home-away-from-home feeling.

Lakeside condos, family-size cottages, and even RV spots fill out the options with 27 different rooms and buildings that can accommodate between two and 16 guests. RV sports are also available with access to full utilities.

The big draw to Heart of Texas is the easy access to Lake LBJ. Guests can bring their boats and personal watercraft and park them in the resort’s slips. Two fishing docks and a fish-cleaning station are all just a short walk from accommodations. LBJ is known for its impressive bass fishing opportunities and water sports recreation. This is the place to take advantage of both.

While the resort offers fun amenities like an 800-square-foot swimming pool, full arcade, and 18-hole mini-golf course, it also has a few practical services that make life easier. Heart of Texas staff offer grocery pickup so you don’t have to make a trip into town and can spend more time relaxing. Guests have access to a washer and dryer, which makes longer stays less of a chore. Wireless internet is also available throughout the resort, making it easy to go online and look up your next adventure.

The resort shines as a great place to stay, but it also happens to be nearby other Highland Lakes gems like Inks Lake State Park and Longhorn Cavern State Park. These parks are prime examples of the scenic beauty of the region. Both are on Park Road 4, which showcases some of the best views in the Hill Country.

“It’s a home away from home, whether you’re staying for three days or two weeks,” Corcorran said.

Heart of Texas Lake Resort is located at 408 Clen Oak Parkway in Hoover Valley on Lake LBJ. Call 512-756-7766 for more details.
