Follow the star to Main Street Bethlehem
Be transported back in time and thousands of miles away to the ancient city of Bethlehem on the very night of Jesus’ birth at Main Street Bethlehem. Just one block off of Burnet’s historic downtown square the “city” comes to life for two weekends each December. In 2025 the free event takes place 5:30-8:30 p.m., December 5-7 and 12-14 at 205 S. Vanderveer St. in Burnet. There are no tickets or reservations — just show up. Donations are gladly accepted at the exit.
Inside the city guests will enjoy the sights, sounds, and scents of an ancient Bethlehem. Walk the city streets, observe daily life and customs, watch craftspeople at work, and get a feel for what life was like at that time. As visitors make their way through the busy city and past a bustling — and very full— inn the path narrows and a hush seems to fall as guests wind their way past a stable with one very special “gift” inside.

The experience, which is like none other, is a gift from First Baptist Church Burnet. Upon arrival to Main Street Bethlehem visitors will likely find an entrance line forming. The line moves quickly so don’t let the sight of a long line deter a visit, but at peak times the wait can be about an hour. Food and drink vendors are typically set up nearby for those wanting refreshments while waiting.
Main Street Bethlehem is located at 300 E. Washington Street, Burnet, Texas. Additional information about the event can be found on the church’s website. Before leaving the area, be sure to stroll or drive around Burnet’s Courthouse Square to see the beautiful display of Christmas lights.
